Voting is now officially underway for the ninth annual Best of Kunming Awards. Beginning today and running through December 31, readers can choose their favorite Kunming businesses and establishments here on the website or through WeChat.
In an effort to increase the time people have to vote, we tweaked the way we've done things in the past. We have eliminated the previous two-week nomination process and expanded the number of entrants in each category to eight, which includes all of last year's winners. In another twist, a few redundant categories have been combined, while we've added two survey questions. Also new for 2015-2016 — in a nod to the growing use of cell phone apps — a WeChat-specific voting category has been introduced — Best English Language School.
How to vote
Voting for 2015-2016 is open to all registered GoKunming users. Log in and then place your votes here or follow the links below. If you do not yet have a GoKunming account, you can sign up by registering here. Each person is allowed only one ballot, so make sure your form is fully filled out before submitting it.
Voting can also be completed by following GoKunming's WeChat Official Account, where voting takes place via a survey ballot. Get started by scanning the QR Code above with your mobile device, or search for GoKunming in WeChat's 'official accounts'.
How to win this year's voting prizes
For this year's voting, we are offering the chance to win one of a bevy of prizes for all who vote on the website using a verified GoKunming account. Prizes include two individual vouchers for treatment packages at Kunming's premier luxury spa, La Bharive Spa (value: 946 yuan/each) two pairs of VIP tickets to a performance of Yunnan legend Yang Liping's Dynamic Yunnan (value: 960 yuan/pair) and ten individual shopping cards from downtown Kunming's best-stocked grocery store, Green Supermarket (value: 100 yuan/each).
If you would like to become eligible to win, be sure to log in, cast your ballot in all categories and enter your current phone number in the proper field. A random drawing will be held on January 1 and the winners will be notified by January 4. Good luck!
Voting results will be announced on the website the second week in January, following the third annual Best of Kunming Awards Ceremony. The evening will feature a show recognizing the winners in each category, speeches by award recipients, live music and a humongous lucky draw for attendees. More details are coming soon!
