A lot will depend on the infrastructure of your local xiaoqu (housing development). Ask the management, they will know which most residents will use where you live. That is a good indicator of service levels where you live.
Don't get sucked in by the special budget packages, some as little as 6rmb/day, as they are limited and I have heard complaints.

What I can tell you is that over the last 2 years most providers have upgraded to fibre optic cable across most of the city.
The only complaint about our China Telecom service is that, since they upgraded to fibre, they now provide IP TV services, which gobbles up bandwidth at peak viewing times. I assume other cable providers will be the same.

Invitation only usually means that you need to ask for an invitation. If you are seen as being able to make a useful contribution, or you can show a specific interest in the topic, you will get an invitation.
I have been to events that are flooded with people just handing out business cards, for anything. I have even ejected carpet and curtain salesmen from HR events.

The fully booked will probably be by local officials who don't want to miss out. The reception is usually dinner.

Yes I think the old town was all locals, and the new town was all businesses and hotels, bars, etc. I think they abut each other.
But it does seem a little odd that all these fires started in the small hours of the morning. If it was arson I can think of many alternative reasons for this, including protection rackets.

Another sad event.

At least this time the watercourses, that run through the streets to provide water for fire-fighting, were not built over. As I believe they were in Shangrila.

A reasonable choice of lumber that has improved over time. Fancy hardwoods like walnut, and mahogany are in abundance. There are some plywood and rubber-wood boards available. There are also some kiln dried imported softwoods and merbao available. Some of the lumber is very green, so look for the kiln dried if you need stable timbers.

Echo everything said by others.
Breakfast great and the serve from 8am. Most other places say 9am and they still are not ready.
Sandwiches are cheap 22-32, and really packed full of filling. We got some sandwiches for a day out, the only mistake I made was ordering two, as this was too much. These are seriously good sangars, and they are wrapped in alu foil.

In fairness to Metro, they are a wholesalers, and not really a supermarket. Hence the need for a card, which can be got around.

They have improved in the year I have been away. They now carry a more consistent range of imported foodstuffs and they also seem to have sorted out the mported milk supply.

They have a wider range of electrical appliances now, there is a coice of more than one toast. There is also a better range of seasonal non foods, like clothes, shoes, garden furniture and camping gear.
