Sugared drinks actually make you more thirsty, something to do with the way it is absorbed into the body. I learned this one in Africa, the hard way.

It is not a diet thing for most people. And it is not unreasonable. I know there has been a fight with Coke due to the amount of fake product Kunming.

I did learn that Metro (in my last city) would run out of Diet Coke for months at a time. And so when I did see it I would buy a couple of cases.

Eat more tofu and fermented beans. The methane will counteract the CO2. Maybe worse than smoking though.

I have to get my medical for a visa

I have been given the address.

Does anyone know the following: ?
Opening hours?
Is it medicals in the morning and admin in the afternoons?
Do I need photos in Kunming?
How long does it take to get the report back?
Is the med centre foreigner friendly with clear instructions/signs in English?

Any advice welcomed.

I think of it a bit like an open belt, a strip or swathe. Or if the roads are the lines of communication/trade, then the area of influence (political/economic) along the road is the belt, Others may see if differently.

Dali will change even more, but that rate of change may be faster. What will change is the crowds and prices for accommodation. If it follows the pattern of Lijiang and other places, locals will sell up and outsiders will move in, either as buyers or long term renters.

A reasonable choice of lumber that has improved over time. Fancy hardwoods like walnut, and mahogany are in abundance. There are some plywood and rubber-wood boards available. There are also some kiln dried imported softwoods and merbao available. Some of the lumber is very green, so look for the kiln dried if you need stable timbers.



Echo everything said by others.
Breakfast great and the serve from 8am. Most other places say 9am and they still are not ready.
Sandwiches are cheap 22-32, and really packed full of filling. We got some sandwiches for a day out, the only mistake I made was ordering two, as this was too much. These are seriously good sangars, and they are wrapped in alu foil.



In fairness to Metro, they are a wholesalers, and not really a supermarket. Hence the need for a card, which can be got around.

They have improved in the year I have been away. They now carry a more consistent range of imported foodstuffs and they also seem to have sorted out the mported milk supply.

They have a wider range of electrical appliances now, there is a coice of more than one toast. There is also a better range of seasonal non foods, like clothes, shoes, garden furniture and camping gear.
