my rec is to buy and cook yourself. for a nice sized steak, you can get them for 15yuan all the way up to 100 or so... i cooked myself a 20 one and it was absolutely delicious. carrefour, walmart, they've all got them.

Hope I'm not too late on this post, but I went to Shilin ast Tuesday.
You can only take a bus TO Shilin. But the station has changed. You can no longer take a bus from the southern station. You need to take a bus or a taxi out East, to 东部 (dong1bu4). You can get on there and tickets are about 35RMB. On the way back I made a huge mistake by taking the train. TAKE THE BUS BACK! I bought a hard seat ticket but when I got on they had overbooked the train without telling me. I spent the whole time back standing or squatting on the floor.
Also: when you buy a ticket to Shilin at 东部 there are two choices: Shilin 县城 ( xian4cheng2, the city) and Shilin 景区(jing3qu1, the park). Choose wisely.

Kunming stunned by cafe bombing
Posted bythe article is a little confusing. he was at the door of Salvador's "burning gas" and after burning it for a while turned it off. He picked it up to headed (back) inside the cafe, then put it back on the ground. When he put it back down, it exploded.
but yes, the eyewitness account is clear enough that pretty much anyone there should be able to confirm or deny it.
while i also hope that it was simply a tragic mistake and not a bombing, there is a doubt lurking in my mind that it could have been a bombing and that the media has been told to put a lid on it.
remember the "third bombing" in June that "may have been a tire exploding?" i'm still not clear on that one, but my friend has family in the police dept, and he says that he was told that it was a bombing. so who knows. i can't say either way.

Posted byyeah, it says that, according to a Chinese witness, the gas canister handler put it on the ground too hard and it exploded. Is that not what eyewitnesses are saying?
Either way, I'm glad no one else was seriously injured.
I'm still waiting for the smoke to clear so we can get some solid facts.
