Forums > Living in Kunming > Kunming FRAUD It's a fraud. Follow the advice of others and do not engage. Otherwise, in a few months you'll be posting in this thread again about how you were told to buy a few thousand euros of cigarettes and liquor to secure a contract from a company that disappeared. Seems they really like targeting small Italian architecture and design firms. Why is that? Because of past success? Are Italians far too trusting in biz? Or are Italian small companies desperate for business?
Forums > Living in Kunming > WPS and the Cloud If you can open them as read only, then a simple solution would be to copy and paste your work into a new different word processing program and save it there. There is plenty of freeware out there, like openoffice for example. It's possible another progRam could just open and work with your wps files also. I think OpenOffice is capable of that. I'd suggest backing up your current and future work on a separate drive, so if you're program misbehaves again, you'll have your files in a not messed with condition elsewhere.
Forums > Living in Kunming > Metro to Kunming Train Station exit inside As far as I can tell, taking the metro to the train station doesn't actually allow you to exit inside the station or even just outside of it.
So, has anyone done a metro trip to the Kunming Main train Station. If so, where do you actually come out and how long is the walk after?

Getting Away: Cycling around Dianchi
Posted byAny hotel in Kunming probably can, but as you venture out to the smaller cities of China, you will find that many hotels are not setup to register foreign guests. When you get very rural, it's actually easier to find lodging as many places then don't bother with registration. The rule is still on the books, but most big city hotels can comply now and most small village ones don't bother. It's 3rd tier non-tourist towns where you tend to encounter this issue.

An end to hand, foot and mouth disease?
Posted byI like vaccines. Wish we had one for dengue and malaria. But kudos for Yunnan coming up with one HFMD.
Lijiang blaze destroys old town businesses
Posted byWow, only 13 businesses lost and zero death toll. That's the best bad news possible out of a fire in old town. It could of easily been 130 businesses and worst. The might of the Chinese populace. 1000 for the bucket brigade.
Getting Away: Songming's Crystal Palace
Posted byThe caves look very unspoiled for a tourist attraction. Worth a look.
