Try Kunming Hotel 3162063 or Sakura Hotel 3165888 asking for manager on duty who speaks English - their house keeping department used to contract their cleaning service out . I did years ago with Kunming Hotel - they had professional carpet cleaner and did a very decent job on my office carpet. They may still offer the service to the public. But it won't be cheap.

It is very sad indeed. Unfortunately that's what most of zoos are like in China.

To complain, you could email Chinese authorities: local government, Chinese embassies in the foreign countries as I did so – the complaint is not always in vain - sometimes they listen.

One step further: If you want to do more for the poor animals here, you could check www.animalsasia.org where you may find some volunteering work you can do and get involved to improve the animal welfare in Yunnan, China or even Asia.

I am not sure if there is an official dogs home here in Kunming as I struggled to find one two years ago. You can try www.animalsasia.org - they have a branch in Chengdu hopefully they may have set up an office in Kunming within these two years.

I came across some of the private-owned dogs home in Kunming and found that they are not that good and I doubt their geniune purpose of the involvement!
