Hi John - any update on your saga?
I'm working on a project regarding traffic issues in China, and would appreciate your input. Please drop me an email for further details - monadic.content@gmail.com.

I've found newegg (www.newegg.com.cn/) to be the best all-round for getting electronics on the mainland - all genuine stuff, delivered quickly, often cheaper than western counterpart websites/electronics markets. I've ordered a hard drive, slr and mp3 player from them, among other things.
The iRiver ebook reader is available from newegg.com.cn for around 2,200.
I'm going to wait a while for ebook stores to sort themselves out (drop their prices and the prices of the readers to a reasonable level) before thinking about buying one.
Sorry, this isn't an answer to your question (though you could always take a flask of joe to one of the printer-copier shops). Would like to contact you regarding another matter though - monadic.content@gm#il.com.
