Forums > Living in Kunming > Changing CNY to $$$

Bridge. I am sure you have been to this area before. It is about a 40 minute walk from where you are. At Ren Min Middle Road turn onto Dong Feng Road and reach the end to nanping Jie - There is a big plaza and you can not miss the big Bank of China.

These women earn a small profit from changing money and they do not want to ruin their business by passing counterfit notes. I tried changing money in the bank once and took nearly an hour. The women outside the bank will change money is less than 5 minutes. They only speak one phare in English - Change Money.

Ignore the comment made by Alien - this is NOT where you change money. Let me summarize what Alien previously wrote -I don't know the differences but my impression is that exchange rates don't vary much, so anyplace is okay, at least if you want US$.

Forums > Living in Kunming > Is GoKunming mashed up for you?

Yes, the forum and classifieds and comments box on the lower right side keeps changing and old threads are popping up - if you try to open one of them it opens a new page and brings you to some old stuff.

Forums > Living in Kunming > Salt - Old Towns in Yunnan

Bao Feng is very nice and it is also the hometown of Dong Ze - the founder of Yunnan University. Lots of history for those who have interest. 3 small children gave a us a tour of the old town and then the father of one of the girls gave us a ride to a nearby covered bridge - Great experience!

Cannabis is listed as a Schedule I substance under the Controlled Substances Act of 1970, the highest classification under the legislation. This means that the substance has a high abuse potential and no safe medical use.

This is a lie because:
1 - Patent # 6630507 – Oct 2003
2 - No one ever overdosed or murdered on Cannabis.

casual drug users who do not negatively affect anyone - Read what I just wrote, you are 100% mistaken in this premise. Casual drug users do affect others you just don't know about it.

most people cannot even agree on whether drugs should be legal in the first place? People dont make laws, govts make laws and the govts are filled crimminals. Govts do NOT do the will of the people, they only do what is good for themselves.

Again, to understand a complicated topic one must first understand the difference between a functinal (F) addict and a (D) dysfunctional addict. A functional addict seems to live a normal life, never arrested or no run ins with the law. This is the obvious evidence most people see. What people do not see is what happens in the background which is the same for both F + D addicts. The DSM will list these factors and most people know what these are. Problems in the family, divorce caused by the addiction, loss of income caused by the addiction and so on.

There are millions of people who use illegal drugs and never get arrested. And there are millions who use illegal drugs and DO get arrested. We only hear about the ones who get arrested.

For those of you who believe drugs are a victimeless crime, then you failed to consider the mother, the husband, the wife, the children and you are just looking at the fact that the addict did NOT rob a liquor store to get money to support his/her habit.

Alien may not agree with all that I wrote but he can understand what I mean because he asked a serious question rather than jumping to conclusions or making sarcastic remarks and name calling.

The new Visa office is located at 118 Tuo Dong Road. There is no number on the building yet so do not bother to look for it. There are 2 passport photo shops on either side of the building. The office is located directly in front of the Kunming Museum. The bus stop is named - Shi Bo Wu Guan - Bus 1, 62, 109, 117, 145, 213, A1 and K3 stop directly in front of the office. Foreigners need to go to the 3rd floor. The Tuo Dong Stadium is located to the right of the office while Baita Road is located to the left of the office.
