One clarification is the the "PSB" you mention is not the main one on Beijing road, but rather the entry exit bureau nearby on Tuodong Lu.

Where did I mention that the PSB was in Beijing Road?

Thanks a lot. I will pass this on. There are many agencies that provide this service but I was looking for one that someone had recently used and received satisfactory service. Thanks again.

This is exactly why I am asking for information from someone who has recently used an agency and can confirm that they are legit.

Has anyone else got a 10 yr visa within the last 6 months who can give me the name, address or website of the agency used and can confirm they are legit.

In the situation I described above about the 8 guys beating up another guy. If I had grabbed a smaller guy, rather than the biggest guy there, I would have surely started a gang fight and they would have turned on me. When I grabbed the big guy, I simultaneously yelled Enough! in English which they could not understand. But they could see in my eyes that I was ready to throw down with the lot of them and they did absolutely nothing. I pity the fool - Mr. T.

who says kids saying laowai is a verbal attack? me or you?

Are you aware of what you wrote before you hit the Post button?

I think most foreigners fail to understand the meaning of this situation. One kid will make the others aware that there is a foreigner present by saying laowai. There is no malice in this. It is like any one of us saying, look at the that cat over there or see that person in a wheelchair or look at the very tall person or very short person or look at the sexy girl.

Another situation that is not understood by foreigners is the Hello issue. Most chinese are lacking in self confidence they are always talking with that nervous laugh when they encounter strangers. When they say Hello and seem to be laughing they are NOT mocking you, they are just awkwardly trying to be friendly by saying hello.

This article is a great example of a failed project. First of all, PSB should have notified the chinese, not the foreigners. When my wife called the 12319 number they had no idea what she was talking about. Secondly, if they want to put a stop to this mess they should stop the sale of this completely, not just go after illegal vendors who did not get a license to sell. Just another attack on the poor.

Thats not the point - they make this annual notice as if there is concern for the welfare and safety of the people - public notice reminding holiday revelers to mind their manners during the imported holiday season when it has nothing to do with safety - In an effort to limit such mayhem, the PSB has forbidden all unlicensed curbside peddlers from selling feixue (飞雪) products.

Dont you get it? If this was about safety they would not allow this to be done any more - all they do is limit those who sell the stuff like spray and fireworks - limit those who paid for the priviledge - those who dont pay for the license dont get to sell.

This notice has nothing to do with foreigners, or X-mas, or safety - it is about stopping unlicensed vendors!

The new Visa office is located at 118 Tuo Dong Road. There is no number on the building yet so do not bother to look for it. There are 2 passport photo shops on either side of the building. The office is located directly in front of the Kunming Museum. The bus stop is named - Shi Bo Wu Guan - Bus 1, 62, 109, 117, 145, 213, A1 and K3 stop directly in front of the office. Foreigners need to go to the 3rd floor. The Tuo Dong Stadium is located to the right of the office while Baita Road is located to the left of the office.
