We will have to wait and see what happens with GMO labeling in California. Keep in mind that cannabis is Legal in many states now yet the federal govt still raids and arrests many people who are No longer breaking any laws.

The Govt is in bed with the corporation so do NOt expect any positive results - See here

Forums > Travel Yunnan > Lijiang dissapointing?

I do Not work and have a lot of free time so I do all my travelling during the off season. I stay at home during the Big 3 holidays and weekends and I only go out during the weekdays. Because I have the luxury of time, I am able to take some great pictures without any visitors. Additionally, I like to travel to the many unknown scenic spots which offer more culture and friendly people.

A place I really like is the Sand Forest in Qujing. I have been there 3 times during the weekdays and we were the only ones in the entire park.

I was very disappointed when I recently visited Ba Mei in Wenshan last year. I have been there 6 times in the last 8 years and the ticket price was always 40 Yuan. However, when I visited in Oct 2011 the price jumped to 100 Yuan.

I keep all my ticket stubs and I am amazed at the price difference in just a few years.

Go to the street near Kundu where they sell many musical instruments. Go to the store where they sell the instrument you are looking for. Ask them if they know someone who teaches lessons for that instrument.

I have seen many positive changes here in Yunnan over the past 10 years. People are truly changing but it takes time - Here in Yunnan it just takes a little longer. A short trip to any big city in the east will reveal that chinese people have changed for the better. I was amazed to see people standing in line and not pushing when I went to Beijing before the Olympics.

Smoking is still nasty!

The new Visa office is located at 118 Tuo Dong Road. There is no number on the building yet so do not bother to look for it. There are 2 passport photo shops on either side of the building. The office is located directly in front of the Kunming Museum. The bus stop is named - Shi Bo Wu Guan - Bus 1, 62, 109, 117, 145, 213, A1 and K3 stop directly in front of the office. Foreigners need to go to the 3rd floor. The Tuo Dong Stadium is located to the right of the office while Baita Road is located to the left of the office.
