Forums > Living in Kunming > Indoor climbing walls...

I noticed a really high indoor climbing wall on the 5th floor open space of Joy City. The wall is 26 meters high . A portion of the wall on the left side is more kids friendly.

The company that runs it is TNS攀岩馆 which you can find more info on WeChat. TNS stands for The Natural School.

Forums > Travel Yunnan > Shuttle Buses between Lijiang and Lugu Lake

Above poster's situation is a bit more unique, pertaining to foreigners who haven't traveled outside China for past few months, prior to the 14-day quarantine stipulation for international arrivals.

For these non-Chinese travelers to Yunnan destinations like Dali, screenshot or photocopy of previous airline booking/invoice need to be prepared on-hand, not just health codes on smartphone. This is the recommendation of Dali's CDC (疾病预防控制局, aka "防控局") as relayed by government personnel in Dali's tourism bureau (旅游局). All conversation by telephone so no source links. Local police stations and hotels weren't as fruitful/accommodating as previously mentioned. The lack of synchronicity of information has always been a challenge.

Thank you for taking time to touch base with local government regarding this issue. May I ask which divisions of government were contacted to ascertain your green light certainty?

The last thing we want is to arrive there and be met with mandatory quarantine, as warned by police and various inns. During this period, hotels/inns are required by law to immediately report to police when foreigners check-in. Failing to do so result in a fine.

Forums > Living in Kunming > Send stuff in France

Sonia, if one of your stuff in Kunming just so happen to include medical equipment such as face masks, be aware. Since April 1st, China customs have set stringent quotas for exports on such products. China Postal EMS customer service previously informed me that exporting over ~150 face masks, or 1,000rmb equivalent worth of uncertified face masks for personal shipment are prohibited. Furthermore, 40kg max weight for China EMS?

This info may apply not just for OP, but anyone exporting such products to worldwide destinations, not just to France.

I believe this April 1 export rule quickly went into effect to curb faulty, uncertified face masks after mass recall from several nations last month. One of which was our editor in chief Vera's home country in the Netherlands?

Having contacted Lugu Lake government portals on WeChat and verified again by telephone, they now officially accept foreign travelers. On paper, they denied entry of foreigners a while back due to the pandemic.

One-way direct flight from Kunming to Lugu Lake via Lucky Air ranges from $220 to $290 (excluding $50 airport taxes) depending on dates. Airport buses to lake bus terminal cost $30/pax, approximately an one hour duration. Other cities that could fly to Lugu Lake besides Kunming are Chongqing and Chengdu.

Lake sightseeing buses that drive around the entire lake, which starts in Yunnan and crosses over to Sichuan Province and back, takes a total of four hours. 2/3 of lake is supposedly in the territory of Sichuan, 1/3 in Yunnan (the more scenic). Two daily departure bus times, once in the morning and once at noon. $60/pax for two-day all-you-can-ride scenic bus pass.

Lugu Lake buses to Lijiang takes approximately four hours, halving the driving time in the past due to new roads.

A few days ago on June 30, Yang Liping officially unveiled her Yunnan Dali Grand Theater (杨丽萍大剧院) to the world. An architectural feat of beauty. She may not pass on her legacy in blood, but definitely in her artistic spirit.
