I suggest nobody's in danger here and that the problem is less serious than all the talk about it.

No, number 6 - everyone born on a Saturday has a code number beginning with 6, followed by, in order, the date (10202018), time to the second, precise latitude and longitude in degrees, minutes and seconds (followed by N or S and then by E or W, as appropriate) of place of birth. Those without all of this data shall go through life without hukou and so must stay at home, where they shall have free 24-hour lifelong Internet access.

I'm not a health foody but the few meals I've had here have been really good and, yeah, I'll be happy to go back alone to sample all the rest of them. It's also not a bad place from which to people-watch the street below.

Tourism is an industry run on an absurd basis that produces contradictory demands in the promotion of profitable businesses dependent on catering to rather absurd (especially in the case of ethnic tourism) dreams of a relatively new tourist industry, and I agree with what you say about the Chinese media. The contradiction evident in this recent scarp between local vendors and, apparently rather arrogant, tourists. The route this kid of development is taking, however, is not likely to get less contradictory as the tourist industry become less 'new' - the best you'l get is a 'PC', smug, attitude among those who benefit from it and still consider themselves above it all.
