Forums > Living in Kunming > Don't get scammed like I did YES you can totally get a taobao as a foreigner. I am not sure about the process for opening a store, but I was able to open one as just a regular user.
Make sure that you open your zhifubao account FIRST, and then when you go to taobao, click on "log in with zhifubao." The other way around does not seem to work well. When you establish the account with zhifubao, you will have to provide a photo of your passport and residence permits. I never had to submit anything of myself holding the document, just the document itself. It took me about three weeks (yes, three entire weeks) to get it all figured out. Worse case scenario, they do have a customer service line, they seem to have some good tips.
Forums > Living in Kunming > The local fauna: dating chinese guys Okay, so I like too you're guys' advice and in a nice way, I brought up the subject, I was like, no really I am a foreigner, what's the deal and why are you like asking me to marry you, right? And it was really funny, he tried to like shrug it off, and I was like no really though, and he was like, okay, my mom wants me to get married this year. I was like HA! I knew it had to be something like that.
Forums > Living in Kunming > Might need a new visa Don't want to be a downer, but I heard they were tightening up the visa regulations. If you got your visa before last September or so, things have changed since then, you'll want to brush up on your info. I heard that converting your visa from tourist to something else is not as convenient. Does anyone else know about this?
