Sorry, the details of my life, and how i live it, are things which i'm not going to get into with you.

The reason i originally posted was basically exasperation at your continued return to how we should all behave here. We get it. But your a constant on these threads now, and the self-aggrandizing and condescending nature of your posts are becoming really, really tedious. I think it's a shame that this great website has to suffer a diseased forum section.

We get it. You're living the REAL China blah blah blah. So go ahead and get on with it. Enough for the rest of us, please.

'When people from other cultures enter a foreign culture, and import their ways, beliefs, religion, food, habits, etc., they do damage to the native culture'

Foreigners bringing their food etc to a foreign country are exporting, not importing. The host country is the one who has decided to import it. It condescending in the least to suggest that the poor Chinese are having this culture forced upon them. They decided they wanted US fast food, they eat it in their millions, and, i know this really stings for you, but millions of them actually enjoy it. Anyway, i digress, i will not be dragged into another of your inane food arguments.

'your phrase, "Chinese piss," to describe Chinese beer (that sells very well in China), is a categorical, colonialist statement: "My Western beer is not only better, but your Chinese beer is horrible, and not worthy of superior people like me."

Nope. Not at all. The local beer here is piss. That's not me saying that i am superior, it's not me offending local culture, and it certainly has nothing to do with colonialism ffs! It's me saying that the local beer here is rancid. It's my opinion, nothing more.

You're trying to take simple opinion and make it into something else in order to support your endless striving toward some kind of moral superiority on how one should live in a foreign country. It's tedious. Stop.

'don't listen to them'

No, listen to the expert on all things China and Chinese.

Please.

How you choose to live, or what you see as living well is entirely subjective. There's nothing wrong with spending money in bars with other foreigners, neither is there anything wrong with eating western food, whenever the hell you want, and with with as much frequency as you want. You are doing neither yourself nor China a disservice.

I choose to spend money in decent bars because i like to socialize with people, but more because i don't mind spending a extra to drink good beer. Some are happy to drink Chinese piss for 3 kuai a bottle from the local store, which is fine by me. Like i said, everything is subjective.

If you can live the life you want here, go ahead and live it. If you can't live the life you want here, leave. But please, for the love of all that is holy and sacred, stop the preaching about what is the right/best way to do everything from eat food to educate the local taxi drivers, ffs.

Regardless of the size of the chemical dose, just look at the picture! A brick factory which looks absolutely filthy; baskets of mixian half spilling onto the floor, and a few dudes with no protective clothing on, hard at work, shedding blood, sweat and tears... all of which are likely to end up in the mixian.

The question is: how many restaurants buy from dumps like this? My guess is a lot, because it will be way cheaper than other places that refuse to cut corners to save a few kuai (of those, I doubt there's many)

That's the bottom line.

It's not far-fetched to imagine that those who eat mixian regularly, may, at some point in time, have been eating mixian made in a place like the one above, which was then cooked in gutter oil, with fake meat, or pork passed off as beef, along with vegetables that were pumped full of antibiotics and raised on water so polluted it's unfit for agricultural usage.

Now who's hungry?

Yep, 15 Yuan is much more reasonable. It's nice to see that you value your customers, Barbara, and as i said in my original review, Slice of Heaven is a great place. The Friday pizza deal is a genuine bargain, and it's a cool little place to hang out for drinks too.
