I have a Chinese friend who is looking for a nanny for a part time child minding job for her one year old but she has been figuratively scared to death by the stories she has heard of babies being harmed or the house being cleared out after the parents have left for work.
Do these things actually happen, or are they just apocryphal 'bogeynanny' stories? Are there any reputable Nanny agencies here or is it best to get a nanny through personal recommendation? If so, can anyone recommend a good nanny (via PM) for a three day a week job?
Questions, questions, questions, I know. Any help would be gratefully received!

I'm imagining the former to be a library's jogging club, while the latter......well let's just say it would involve a more relaxed approach and the consumption of many more snacks.
A quick update: After talking to the new school apparently the Sichuan location of the office is the issue. My FEC would have to come from their experts bureau, so it's a not an internal Yunnan process. I guess my old school never had anyone transfer to another province before. We learn a new thing every day!
