Prices vary per type of ferret and age.
We bought a "Sabre" (black and white wich was about 6 weeks old) for 1500 yuan.
We also have a "Lightning" one that was about 4 weeks old then (white, but not albino as it has a silver-grey tail and unique eyes) for about 3000 yuan.

My suggestion: don't go for albino or completely black. The more mixed the colors, the calmer and easier the ferret usually is (less bity). Ferrets are a bit high-maintenance and do need a bit of attention.

The Dwarf Empire is part of the World Ecological Garden of Butterflies.

The easiest way from South Kunming is to take the dam-road over Dianchi Lake (where the cable-lift goes) and follow the parallel road along the high-way south. When you come to the village, you'll see a huge butterfly in the field. Drive into the village and up the mountain on your right. You have to follow the large butterfly posts (blue metal butterflies) along the main countryside road for about 20 minutes. There are other huge structures on the hill-tops but those are just decoration. You'll see the entrance on the hill on your left.

From North Kunming you can take the freeway and take the highway exit when you see the very large butterfly in the field. Follow the small countryside road through the village towards the east (Anning).

Prices are about 80 yuan p/p. Electric cart/bus isn't needed in my opinion unless you can't walk up a hill for 3 minutes.
There is a little construction at this time. The butterfly garden is decent enough. Just some people went overboard with their needle-pins in the mini-museum.
The Dwarf Empire is both a very long show (mostly speeches and singing / karaoke) and some acrobatics. Offensive? Not at all. I don't speak Chinese so I didn't get too much of the show. It's a faily serious show and the park provides for them as residents. No exploitation, clown acts and funnymakingbusiness.
Food you can get at the BBQ pavilion at the big cage (walk past the central stage towards the dinosaur field in the back).
You can also walk the path behind the central stage up to a viewing point / fortress.
They're working on a small dinosaur park too now. The statues look very good and are life-size. Pretty impressive to stand next to a T-Rex.

It's quite a ride (about 45 minutes from KM and even harder probably to get a taxi back. So you may have to drive there by car or call the park before you go to find out if taxi or busses are available.

We bought 2 ferrets from the ferret store which is like 2 streets from Green Lake (it's pretty much next door to the new O'Reilly's Bar). We've had them for 1 year and the other for a half year.

It's a very good store, ferrets are chipped and have passports that also list all information including innoculations. They also give advice on handling and taking care.
Products and food can be ordered from their website and delivered to you within 2 days. Or you can get tons of stuff from taobao. Either way, it may actually be the only professional store in town that focusses solely on ferrets.

Check if you can change your work visa into a tourist visa to travel before you go back, or if there's a "layover" period before you have to leave the country after you quit your job. Usually countries prefer to see you leave rather than come, so maybe you don't need to change your visa or even sign-out your visa as you are leaving. So I think best is to ask them at the visa-office. (use the "what if" question, not "I already quit" words). Another option is to hop out of the country (Thailand for example and get a new visa to come back to travel. HK may be more tricky and longer waiting nowadays.) Don't take my word for it, make sure you ask the visa-officers. They decide.

It's over 50%. Anyhow, they play right into the hands of the counterfeitters.
