@ dudeson s
The sound of chinese is perfect for music compositions, very complicated words can rhyme with easy words creating a perfect base for poetry/music.
About the literature you dont need to go that far until lao zi or the art of war, there are wonderful modern books like "to live" for example, zhang yi mou made a beautiful movie about it.
Finally i think studying chinese to me (especially at the beginning) was like when I traveled in some countries and I discovered music and art completely disconnected from the one I experienced before. So basically opening a new world or becoming a new person, that is lifeblood to me.

omg now even learning languages is a waste of time. so how can you feel integrated in a place if you are not able to speak the common language? sure english is good for tourism or academic world, but i believe making the effort to learn the language shows your respect to the locals and to the place you live. In case of chinese then it is an extremely beautiful language full of wisdom, philosophy,culture...studying is hardwork but it is a wonderful exercise for our brain/soul.

I've been working in China for many years and I've never heard about ANY foreigner who has been deported (not even fined) because he was working in a a school as a teacher on an illegal work visa.
I actually know of people being deported because they were doing some work on a student visa, I wouldn't encourage doing that.

@ fixit the best way to burn a potential talented player is to let him play in the wrong position. the coach is the one who has the experience to choose the best position for everyone in the team. imagine every player having the authority to decide where and when to play, do you think that would be the most effective way? everybody is a genius at something but nobody is a genius at everything.

@fixit a good teacher is like a good father, he guides the student and let him find his way. every kid has some ability and lacks others, failing is also a way to let the student focus on something he is better at. imagine you are a football coach, a player is good in defense but he dreams to be a top striker, what kind of training would you design for him? the good world is the one where everybody can give his contribution according to his skill/ability, everyone is a genius at something.

i dont think it s bad planning, there are so many people in china that every new hub is welcome. think about spring festival where everything is congested. guilin kunming also can help tourism. by subway in 45 minutes passengers can get to nan pin jie, not bad.

This article is not reporting what really happened. The tourists signed a contract where they bought a "1 renminbi tour" including food, accomodation and visit to dali, lijiang, sichuanbanna and other destinations but the package required to spend from 3000 to 4000 yuan in shopping. Once in the locations the tourists refused to buy goods, on the bus the tour guide insulted them (she gets payed according to the money tourists spend in shopping) and one passenger took a video of her delivering it to the media.
Just an abuse case from multiple sides...
