Forums > Study > KCEL a profit-making school The problem with KCEL is they flat out lie to students to get them to sign up. Like promising classes they can't deliver, or saying they can easily switch schools if they want. Then after they get their money they make it hell to switch. Like threatening other schools if they gave the student a new visa. Or coming up with excuses why they need to pay more money, but were never told of this before signing up.
They are also a huge source of grey market visas for schools that can't provide a work visa, but the teachers don't actually study Chinese as they're supposed to. That's where your "mafia" like feelings probably come from.
Forums > Living in Kunming > Dropbox not working? I've had trouble with drop box for the past week. Google drive works even less often. About the only one that works 90% of the time is Microsoft One drive. Sometimes there is a significant delay(5 to 10 minutes) before it starts working, especially when trying to upload files.
When Windows Update and OS X update don't even connect I really wonder what they are thinking.... They even block or significantly slow down update servers for Linux... all 0.0001% of the population that uses it... Although they are probably targeting servers in that case.
Forums > Living in Kunming > Leaving These Forums Personally I think the forums have slowed down tremendously in the past few years.... So if there are no rants and troll fests to read then what to do while I wait for the VPN to connect... All possible offense intended ;)
Forums > Living in Kunming > Google services no longer working Also use something like adblock plus with a good privacy filter list, then add the usual suspects like Facebook and twitter. Most sites will load significantly faster after that.
I've also noticed the firewall seems to be using a white list approach too. Any site with https that isn't popular now takes at least three or four tries to open.
Forums > Living in Kunming > Bring, buy or rent a netbook? Yes, Lenovo tends to be better about prices on older models. But they're still always more expensive, and if you don't know Chinese you'll have to pay for another license of Windows... so what's the point?
He only has 10 days in China... might as well save money, and time by getting it before coming here.
Update: Officials fired after school stampede kills six
Posted bySchools in Kunming do the same thing. It's so bad many schools make them sign a document stating they aren't being forced to attend the "extra" classes... yeah, right.
Spring City looks to embrace sweeping green agenda
Posted byAlso look at the roads that were just recently redone. In the north they aren't even a year old and the top layer is rapidly decaying. When the holes get big enough to do serious damage to small cars they just put a traffic cone in it....
Spring City looks to embrace sweeping green agenda
Posted byKunming does invest, but the results are usually no where to be seen. Just look at all the new enlarged sewer pipes literally spewing shit all over the road.
Fishing on Dianchi Lake banned once again
Posted byIf it's banned for industrial use doesn't that mean there are some pretty nasty heavy metals in the water? Why would they allow shrimp to be fished in the past? Do they want people to get cancer or something?
Villainous jade king attempts billion yuan fraud
Posted byDon't see how it could be insurance fraud. Nothing was stolen. The man just didn't pay off his debts.
