YunnanExplorer says the horse race is "now sadly moved to a purpose-built stadium at the outskirts of town."
Does anyone have first-hand experience with this event? Is it well worth a trip or not so much? This year it is scheduled for June 23-25.
Thanks for any suggestions or insights. I'll be traveling a few days in Dali and Lijiang, and could shorten those stays to catch Zhongdian and the horse racing.
Anybody have a comparison between Keats School and TenWest? Both offer one on one instruction. TenWest is smaller, and less comprehensive, ie, room and board not included. But once all is factored in the prices seem roughly comparable for 4-8 weeks stays.
I'm looking for one month of intensive study for an advanced beginner in late May.
I also like Maya1 am investigating Mandarin language schools for 4-5 weeks in May/June. I am at elementary level 2, an adult [58 years] student, and because of time constraints would be looking at one to one tutoring.
I've been reading the small private school websites. Keats for example seems good, though significantly more expensive than for example Summit school. But effective learning is as important as cost and having a good tutor from outset. I plan to devote significant effort to learning.
