Dunno about UPS, haven't heard about them operating in KM, but FedEx is here, I used them a couple weeks ago.
FedEx works through a Chinese company called Tianjin Datian Logistics, you can call their office near the airport at 701 5347 (their receptionist speaks decent English). They can send a FedEx van out to wherever you are and pick up your parcel. You might want to ask them to give you some extra forms and envelopes for future use.
I've received a few packages from TNT too - I think Harbour Plaza offers TNT services, but with an extra service charge added - but I don't have their contact details.
EMS is generally okay, but I've lost some documents sent via EMS before, so I don't really recommend it. Hope that helps.
Hi, thanks for posting on the site. Please put apartment posts in GoKunming's classifieds section - the forum section is for discussions, enquiries, etc. Thank you.
You can get your own room with hotsprings at Dianchi Chuntian, but it's something like 600-800 yuan/night. There are also shared outdoor hot springs for around 85 yuan. The outdoor hot springs are mixed with no nudity, and there is a nice little swimming pool. There is also one pool that is filled with little fish that eat your dead skin off of you. Really. Address and phone number are listed on the Spas page in this site.
Check out www.gokunming.com/en/blog/item.php?blog_id=76 about Al Medina, a Bangladeshi/Indian restaurant across from the airport. Starting next week they'll have an Indian chef who's been working in England. Hopefully it will be as good as it sounds.
@tamar: Her new shop is on Shiqiaopu, I've updated the address and phone number, map point may be slightly off, but it's a short street so you should be able to find it:
It turns out that there may have been a third beating victim and the security guards may have been from a nearby KTV, but media reports on the matter have been all over the place. This post/video on Shanghaiist sums up the Chinese media's rather difficult job:
@Tim_W: As you probably noticed, the AFC website doesn't say where fixtures are scheduled to be held. I'm guessing there won't be any further matches at Tuodong Stadium, but I'm happy to be wrong. Unfortunately, events like this aren't promoted so well, and even buying tickets usually requires knowing someone - not surprising in a town that scrapped its initial plans for the Olympic torch to pass through town and then made it a VIP event out at Yunnan Minorities Village at the last minute.
My favorite Tengchong-style restaurant in Kunming. Their ersi and erkuai are trucked over from Tengchong and are the real deal — Kunming ersi and erkuai do not compare.
The restaurant itself is a bit jumbled, but there are a couple of tables outside in the courtyard that are nice to sit at when the weather's pleasant.
Don't believe them when they say they don't have lufu.
