Cool it Mr. Zhu. No need to get personal,, been here 8 months and never heard a thing about hockey so just trying to help the guy out with my 2 cents. Anyway,, this team,, does it play in a national league or how does it work? Wouldn't mind watching a game at some point.
Chinese Ice Hockey? I can't see it man. My former gf was from Harbin and I seem to remember that up in Heilongjiang they have a couple of rinks made for hockey. Down here in Yunan? I'd be very much surprised if there are any. How about taking up professional mini golfing?
Sure thing. I'm really really sorry,, no idea what I wrote and I can't be arsed to check,, did we even have an argument? Anyway, sorry sorry sorry. Now let's get the thread reopened,, Admin,, you have my permission to edit the word "gay" out of my post,, maybe that would have been the way to go in the first place instead of overreacting and closing the whole thread down. Mountains - molehills.
Tanfei is a friend of mine in real life,, the comment was clearly ironical and the fact that I mention his scooter with a smiley as well as making a reference to "Tropic Thunder" should have given it away.
In the future I will make sure to keep all posts in a manner that doesn't risk offending anyone who might read it, hear about it or otherwize come in contact with it in any way. I hereby apologize unconditionally to Tanfei who's been crying a lot since he saw my comment where I referred to him as sounding homosexual and for my derogatory remark about his scooter.
I also want to apologize to gay people who might have stumbled over my post and taken offense. I in fact have nothing against gay people what so ever and I support gay marriage and adoption. Speaking of gay marriage: I also want to apologize to any religious nuts for calling them religious nuts and also apologize to them for supporting gay marriages of which I know they will take offense. Man,, it is really hard to express anything if you don't want to risk offending anyone.
PS. I feel I need to say sorry to the gay community for saying sorry to religious people because I in my apology to the gay community mentioned that I support gay marriage and adoption. I now realize that saying sorry makes me sound as if I do not stand by my statement. I am hereby very very sorry.
I'm not sure what water they use for watering all the green stuff but every time I see them doing it at high noon at 30 degrees I always wonder if no one's ever told them to do it in the evening or night when 3 fourths of it doesn't evaporate. Just one of many issues of which Mao was one of them (without going into details).
I refuse to believe those numbers are correct. The real CPI is higher and if I should take a guess based on my own observations I'd say the number is closer to 8-9 percent. By the way, did anyone else notice if the price of meat is a lot higher outside of Kunming? Where I have been lately travelling in western Yunnan the prices are roughly 20-25 percent higher.
Oh yeah,, the recipes are back! (damn, Ian beat me to it. Oh well, it deserves double recognition). Some of the recipes from 2008/2009 are still some of my favourite Chinese dishes. More please.
Went there yesterday and it totally made my week. Nice decor and friendly staff and a real salad bar. Sadly we both wanted mexican food so I can't really say much about their other courses. The food was great but just a tad spicier would have improved the dish. The best thing was that we almost had the place to ourselves and we could have a quiet conversation without shouting, spitting Chinese people in the background. I realised how much I had missed that since coming here.
We went to Chicago Coffee a couple of days ago and it was a nice experience. The place is cozy with soft comfy chairs (I realized how much I have missed one since coming here) and they have a nice little collection of English language books in the corner consisting mainly of classics and travel litterature. I was looking forward to trying their advertized tortilla bar but it wasn't up and running that evening.
Instead we went for 2 12 inch pizzas -roast chicken and pepperoni- but we quickly realized that 1 would have been enough. Those things are heavy. I am mainly into Italian style pizza but Chicago's double layered pizzas are well worth a try. Their coffee seems to be a bit on the expensive side but people say good things about it and they have got a nice selection. I wouldn't mind dropping by again some day,, hopefully when they've got the tortilla thing going. English speaking staff btw.
