When in Rome,,. If you get no responses I suggest you go Chinese on this one and let your kid play unobserved on the curb. He will acquire a healthy respect of cars and learn how to truly appreciate airquality when you one day return home.

Right,, before it gets all Us and Them I just want to say that I have never seen a fight in Kundu (I know they happen of course) and I have probably been there at least 40-50 times. The closest I saw was a Chinese chick smashing a bottle trying to mash it into another girls face,, thank god someone grabbed her before she got too close. A drunk Chinese guy told me to "Fxxx off" once because his equally drunk gf wanted to dance with me,, I took a hint and left the place.

Apart from that I only ever met friendly Chinese people and I am glad having seen a couple of fights in Jin Ma Fang and Beijing,, Chinese people haven't got unspoken rules about fighting and I've seen more than my share of unconcious people being kicked for a long time after they became defenceless. Captain Obvious states: Stay away from anything that could turn into a fight in this country.

Murder on a foreigner? Looks like someone's family is gonna get billed for one piece of hollowpoint bullet pretty soon. Bad news for Sohu too,, murders in clubs tend to mean closing down for months here in China. Maybe a couple of well stuffed envelopes and the fact that the stabbing itself took place outside could change that (,,one could argue. I would of course never imply that bribes like that happen).

Speaking of club murders. I heard there was a murder last year at Pandora in Jin Ma Fang. Can anybody verify?

"So you are looking for a job? Where did you study?"

"I am a graduate of International Student Training office in Northern Kunming School of International Programs Kunming University of Science and Technology. If I can say it 3 times in a row without a mistake I get the job ok?"

Let me be the first to offer a very sincere "Yawn" and a good luck with the project. I don't mind cycling per se but after having experienced traffic in China I would much rather donate to research into human teleportation so we can avoid spending time dodging cars and sidestepping scooters in the deadly chaos known as the Kunming streets. Can you imagine what it will be like in 5-10 years with their plans to make this a 10 million city without building a subway?

Never heard of "ECUM Coffee Group", made a quick search on some Danish websites,, no results and no companies with even remotely similar sounding names. Oh well,, that's 10 mins of my life I am never getting back.

Went there yesterday and it totally made my week. Nice decor and friendly staff and a real salad bar. Sadly we both wanted mexican food so I can't really say much about their other courses. The food was great but just a tad spicier would have improved the dish. The best thing was that we almost had the place to ourselves and we could have a quiet conversation without shouting, spitting Chinese people in the background. I realised how much I had missed that since coming here.

We went to Chicago Coffee a couple of days ago and it was a nice experience. The place is cozy with soft comfy chairs (I realized how much I have missed one since coming here) and they have a nice little collection of English language books in the corner consisting mainly of classics and travel litterature. I was looking forward to trying their advertized tortilla bar but it wasn't up and running that evening.

Instead we went for 2 12 inch pizzas -roast chicken and pepperoni- but we quickly realized that 1 would have been enough. Those things are heavy. I am mainly into Italian style pizza but Chicago's double layered pizzas are well worth a try. Their coffee seems to be a bit on the expensive side but people say good things about it and they have got a nice selection. I wouldn't mind dropping by again some day,, hopefully when they've got the tortilla thing going. English speaking staff btw.
