I've been to the Stone Forest many times and although when entering the park it may feel a bit like a tourist trap, there's areas in the back that, even during high season, are usually extremely quiet and can be explored without being surrounded by the crowds.

The landscape is unique and different from many nearly areas that also feature karst rock formations. Definitely worth a visit for those who haven't been yet.

Still worth a visit, especially for the arhat statues. The 11am vegetarian lunch is basic, but still only 10RMB. Free entry.

Standard, clean, well-furnished and appointed mall with the usual fare:
Starbucks
MacDonalds
Bread stores, Drink stores, a mid-end Radisson business hotel
The usual mall stores, movie theaters, and a host of after school training schools (robotics, language, dance, art etc).

Evenings are the usual mini-carnival activities for small children - carnival rides, the ubiquitous electric cars, an illuminated water fountain, a host of kiddie games etc etc etc.

Across the street - a scaled down Aegean Mall (also named Aegean Mall).

I studied in Tenwest for over a year and half and I really want to recommend this school as I strongly believe it is an excellent one. Tenwest can provide individual class but also group class. The teachers are all very passionate and each of them use different methods in order to make the lesson more interesting. I personally followed the HSK preparation and managed to reach HSK6 within 2 years. In class, we followed the HSK book but we also watched movies, read news, talked about the latest topics and alternated ways of teaching. The school itself is very well located (North part of Kunming) and surrounded by many parks, restaurants and KTV. As soon as you step into the school you can feel as if you were at home. Everyone is so nice and if you need to ask any questions or encounter any problems Albert (headmaster) or the teachers are all willing to help.

The school is still able to offer student visa even during this difficult period and I really hope more and more students will choose to go there. I can't recommend it highly enough! Thank you Tenwest for making my journey in China so unique and helping me to achieve my goal. I am now able to speak, write, listen and read in Chinese but also understand Kunming's dialect.

Nice place to have fun with friends. Location is really convince for people who live at the centre or west part of Kunming. I love the live music over there. Always surprised me. Loved it!!!

I occasionally visit the Kai Wah Plaza International Hotel to attend Kunming Rotary Club events. Although I've never stayed in the hotel or viewed its rooms (now on my bucket list) - the food has always been excellent both in presentation, aroma, taste, flavor, etc from appetizers to desserts - with a well-stocked and diverse wine selection - typical of international 5-star hotels. Kudos.

Cantina is always a safe bet for top-notch food and great service. I think it has actually gotten better and better over the years, which is often not the case with restaurants. Most people who live in Kunming know Cantina. Perhaps not as many know how involved the owners, Libby and Diego, are in various social welfare and community service efforts. Highly recommended both for visitors and long-term residents!
