In 2005, the Bai-Yi Tuanjie Town and Bai-Yi Gulu Town were merged to form the current Tuanjie Town. To the south, it borders the Longmen Scenic Area of Xishan; to the west, it borders the Tanglang River; to the north, it is adjacent to Woyun Mountain and borders Fumin County, Lufeng County, Anning City, and Wuhua District of Kunming. The township covers a total area of 425.8 square kilometers and has jurisdiction over 16 village committees and 119 village groups. It is home to ethnic groups such as Yi, Bai, Miao, and Han, with a total population of over 30,000 people, of which ethnic minorities account for 71.21% of the total population. The forest coverage rate in the area is as high as 74.44%. The lowest elevation is 1,750 meters, the highest is 2,640 meters, and the average elevation is 2,190 meters. The average annual temperature is 13.2°C. Tuanjie Town is a minority-inhabited township, located 17 kilometers from Kunming city, with convenient access via highways. The C61 bus route connects the West Station in downtown Kunming with the Grass Skiing Field in Tuanjie Town.
