Yes its old, dingy, dark, beat up and a bit musty. But even with the new cattle pen security lines, it functions smoothly and gets the job done.

I am really rating this to tell people that there is a left luggage area on the second storey, SE corner. I didn't notice this before, is pretty handy for travellers to know! Price isn't bad too, 5 RMB per day, max weight 20kg.

For being a chinese train station, it's actually quite decent and efficient, even refunding a ticket here is not the most mafan thing in the world. That being said, the building is a brutalist eyesore of impressive proportions, and somebody has really made sure to place it at the very end of the epically long and straight Beijing lu, so it can be seen and...errr....'appreciated' from very long distances.
