How much do you spend in Kunming in a month? I mean including food, drinks, bills and other general expenses, but without rent/travel/visa/classes.
Please do not turn this thread into another forum about "how to live cheap" and "how to live like a local", I would like to know how much you spend!
I personally spend about 2,000 a month, everything included.
minus travel and rent... 1000+ maybe, there's not super much cool stuff to spend money on in Yunnan apart from traveling

Minus rent, probably around 4000 per month. Obviously some months more, some months less, so it balances out.

4000 to 8000 and no fancy lifestyle.
Here is my monthly breakdown:
Rent: 1200 Old Chinese style apartment near Wenlin Jie
Mobile Phone: 70 (including 170MB data plan)
Utilities: 100 (Water, Gas, Electric)
Internet: 100
Food: 1000 (Mostly eating out, Chinese style meals, nothing fancy; free school lunch)
Bus Card: 50
Entertaining/Outings/Clubbing/etc: 500+ (Depending on how much socializing is needed in that month; could run into thousands if absolutely necessary.)
Spending on significant other: 1000~2000 (Depending on her shopping mood)
Incidentals: 500 (Clothes, shopping, leaky faucet, etc)
Grand total: 4500+
If single and frugal: <2000
somewhere between 2500 and 3000.

mmkunmingteacher what you posted is bullshit. locals that make 2000 a month still live with their parents. there is no way to live off of 2000 everything included.
