Brooklyn Pizza

When I read about "best pizza" in Kmg, Yunnan, China, Asia...I'm divided between laughing and crying.
I'm italian. I eat pizzas by 30 years.
I give you a random link about how real pizza should be like.

www.dissapore.com/[...]

Of course, we're talking about personal tastes. Doesn't matter nationality of pizzas..

but what about your experience to eat a REAL pizza????

where your considerations as gourmands come from? What are the parametheres to judge a good pizza?

@blue, of course, saying "best pizza" is all about personal preference. So I will say that personally, I really liked the taste of Brooklyn Pizza's pizza, and encourage others who enjoy their pizza to check it out and see if they like it (and since you can buy a single slice, it's not a large investment).

the taste? what does it mean?
is it crispy? or thicker? i guess the second one cause it's huge and topped.
easy to digest? or nightmares?
fresh ingredients as topping?
quality of tomato sauce?
btw, have you ever seen a "tomato sauce factory"?

quality of mozzarella? (same for tomato factories..)
Does it rise also in your stomach after eating?
one slice is enough? i doubt about "easy to digest"; maybe we're talking about stuff our stomachs..ok..

I see that more persons say is expensive...I'd say that a slice at 20 rmb is too cheap; I'd doubt of cheap food.

dear gourmands...you're all talking about good/bad/shit/cheap/not cheap/sizes

you forget to talk about quality when you judge a place. (or try to promote it)

This is my point.

Can I add one thing?
In my daily routine I see more laowais begging the prices, reading the prices before than contents. Complaining before trying the food.

When I arrived in China more than 5 years ago, was a little bit different: laowai wanted quality, and chinese were looking for the price.

Now chinese persons are more interested in organic, natural staff; laowai are happy with full stomachs. Not matter of what.

sorry, maybe I generalized too much. In big cities laowais are still looking for qualitative meals.
Here in Yunnan is different; a lucky laowai teaches full time for 5k rmb.
Of course the budget is much lower than big cities where you can earn 6 times more.
And since we all eat at least 3 times per day...
here we are, Brooklin pizza, Mc's, BK, and whatever.

Much better eat oily street local food at that point.

Sorry to go a little out of topic.

AndrewD: "not paying too much mind" doesn't mean not caring. I'm sure they care what their customers think. I presume that many businesses in Kunming don't take unsubstantiated claims or one-off negative occasions written about on GoK as substance to change. I don't speak for them; I speak for myself. The "even you" was directed in general..yeah, a little jerky, but that's what forums are for, right? ;) Don't take it personally..it wasn't directed at you specifically.

Just trying to get some out there to realize that a little support goes a long way in Kunming's expat community. And the lack of support and negative, non-constructive comments on GoK can have a very extreme opposite effect.

But, I'm glad to see others' are enjoying and finding it a special place! Nice to see well-written, thoughtful reviews instead of reactions.

If the street is so popular you'll soon have the mob of street vendors clogging it up!!

Congrats on the restaurant.....

We went last night for dinner, wow the pizzas were good! And the sub sandwiches. I don't know where the 185rmb price tag came from? We paid around 45 rmb for a huge 14'' pizza. We tried several different pizzas and sandwiches as there were six of us. And everyone had something to take home!
I highly recommend this place, the food was amazing!
We asked for mayonnaise but they didn't have any so we tried the home made blue cheese sauce. Wow! delicious.

We'll be back!

Please note that there are 3 diff sizes for the pizzas. Each size has a different price depending on what toppings are put on the pizza. Large pepperoni is 185, clearly written on the menu.
