I am looking for an art market or something similar. I can find art shops that are charging many th or 10s th for larger pieces.
This is silly money, and very little of it goes to the painter/artist anyway.
In other cities there have always been little districts or streets where this art is churned out.
Is anyone aware of such a street or market in Kunming?

Check Luosiwan International Trade City (Metro Line 1 stops next to it). If you want choice and large (copies of course) of paintings, that's the place to be. Hard to tell they are copies by just looking at them and beautifully framed.
Section: I believe it's Part F, at the 3rd floor in the toys and decorations in section. (there's a part with many artificial flower shops and these shops are in between them. Quite idyllic really.
There is also a small "art" store on Beijing Lu. It's next to the metro station (east side of the road) just past the tea-town off the 2nd ring.

I looked it up. The small shop is located somewhere between Jinxia Road and Jinju Road, right along the big road Beijing Lu - east side of the street.
They have more paintings than there are hanging on the walls but they stand stacked on the floor in the back.
