Price of the basic fish and chips meal has gone up to 19RMB, though the quality of the cooking, condiments and decor has improved since it opened, too. Still good value.
I noticed the portions being significantly reduced, I would estimate in half compared to a month ago in addition to the price increase..
it's still reasonable in price for a double order fish & chips but just disappointing...
My first visit I was highly impressed at receiving a large piece of fish with the chips at 16 rmb which was an incredible value.
I am, at this very second, contemplating the fish and tartar sauce I have just consumed over the serving of the chips that came with the fish.
The fish portion consists of one 3-inch long piece that can be consumed in two bites, one if it wasn't freshly deep-fried. The batter has good texture but lacking in flavor. The tartar sauce is creamy but lacking in zest.
The fries are nice and thickly cut but appears to be fried only once instead of twice for that nice golden crisp. The ketchup too closely resembles sweetened canned tomato sauce for my taste.
Overall, a good effort and decent decor, a good alternative for something different. One caveat, I'm not an Aussie so I can't comment on how authentic it is and fish and chips has never been my thing. Your mileage may vary.
I actually thought fish and chips was an English thing... As an English person, I'm happy that we can get half decent fish and chips in KM. I usually ask for two pieces of fish with one serving of chips to get my fill. I asked and the fish is supposed to be cod, and it did taste like cod. Well done guys!
.if they have upgraded to sea fish.then yay !worth the price
the portion of fish was TINY when I went there last week - two bites is generous. I think the type of fish is the same type as it always was, isn't it? I was pleasantly surprised when I went there after it had just opened and I still prefer the 'British style' once fried chips but the dish just isn't the bargain that it once was. Anyone for 'chips with a hint of fish'?
Why is everyone so obsessed with a British dish made in China? Do you expect it to be the same as in England? Is it that important to eat British food in China?
I'll pay a round of fish and chips to everyone on this forum if no one responds to any of latataille/caveatipse/pedo Matt Miller for 3 months.
@latammtrash now, now sweeetieee, don't need to get angry about those.. who can afford it.. didn't your mommy tell you - envy is not good for your liver
