Hi everybody, I m sorry if this issue was adressed before but I just cant seem to find it in the jungle of posts here :)
So here s the situation, I live in Shenzhen and i m planning to relocate in Kunmnig in the following months. The thing is that I m holding a chinese visa that forces me to leave the country every 30 days. Being in Shenzhen is convenient for that type of visa because i can just go in and out through Hong Kong but what If I come to Kunming ?
I know Yunnan province shares borders with many countries but how convenient is it exactly ?
Is there anyone with the same type of visa living in Kunming right now ? I d really love to get some feedback from these people ( is it easy, which border is better to cross, how long it takes, ..)
Thank you in advance for your kind help :)
You can fly up and down to Jinghong and do visa runs in Mohan. A little bit more complicated then from Shenzhen I believe. And I don't know if you'd have to purchase a Laotian visa every time.
It's impossible to be as convenient as Shenzhen. But if you are willing to buy international plane tickets, you could fly to SE Asian countries without visa requirements or have airport landing visa, even doing that you'll be wanting a 90 day per stay visa really fast due to added cost and time compared to a SZ HK visa run. Doing a land crossing every 30 days from Kunming to a Yunnan border town will make you want to move back to Shenzhen. If you are coming to Kunming for 6 months or longer, you should seriously consider changing to a student visa or find a way to get a double entry 90day per stay from HK before you depart SZ.
I had multiple entry visa and used it for going Laos so could renew my chinese visa status, great place to go and not to far of a bus ride from kunming :o)

It's 12 hour bus ride to Mohan from Kunming with a transfer at Jinghong, assuming no accidents or road works. Laos is a great place to visit, though at Mohan you don't actually need to enter Laos if you just need to leave and re-enter China.
