@liuming
being careful is always good. but as. i said, there are no reports of those scams towards foreigners. maybe people tried but failed. or they would probably exposed in those scam artist police shows. i dunno, i will keep helping people, finding an excuse not to, seems exactly to become one of those heartless selfish people chicha is ranting about.
i wonder how those baby jesus wannabe missionaries act on those situations...i guess turning Judas on the greater good.
nobody can force you to help in china. unlike in the west. aand it may help you to not get scammed,if there are scams like it, a few hundred kuais for a broken arm. the girl i helped screaming in pain after being hit by a car was crying Thank You, over and over to me and that very nice and competent chinese helper. and that was motivatiin and reasin enough to me and help. but of ciurse when you start helping and people try to scam you, just leave.
could the ones that say foreigners are being scammed show any links ir reports of those scams? would be nice to see the poor foreigner scammed his riches for eternity, for real before warning the world...lol
Proceed with caution but no need to become immunised against other peoples hardships :o)
Those videos were classic, made me laugh more than expecting lol
It is obvious that some people will never understand the meaning of a RAK because they live in a world of fear. Perhaps they were jaded in the past so their reaction is to close themselves and permanatly live on the defensive and be fearful of all those around them.
A quick glance at Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs will clearly show that these people remain stuck at the lower levels of needs and awareness and they can never let go of the fears that keep them permanantly stuck at those lower levels.
A good way to evaluate this is to see the many negative comments posted on this site by the same few people, regardless of the topic. The world is what it is today because of this type of thinking.
Humanity must advance and evolve and let go of the fears and obstacles that make this world so empty and cold. For those who understand the meaning of RAK of kindness, more power to you and don't let those negative comments keep you from continuing to do what this world needs so much of.
whereas higher level human bings who have elevated themselves above the minions, blah.blah, blah. not that you are imune from random acts of aggression on this website. hey?
Don't be paranoid, just do the right thing.
Bottom line is do what YOU feel is right for you. What ever YOU feel is acceptable to YOU based on your upbringing and beliefs.
@The Dudeson's, it definitely does happen to foreigners, but they don't have the means to report it in the local news. There's a guy I kind of knew who got scammed 4000rmb last year. Blatant scam, with the authorities siding with the "victim".
I'm guessing that the majority of people would help others when they are hurt or are in danger in another country. But in China, it's better to choose to help people in situations like where things are too heavy to carry, opening/holding the door, donating, volunteering etc... and avoid getting involved in road accidents until the legal system progresses.
Good suggestions there @yankee00.
of course it happens which is why some cities have introduced good samaritan laws to protect helpers. but still not national legal thing.
