A girl named Du used to sell spring rolls at Moondog. They were great with authentic sauce and lettuce wrap. If you want to cook up some homemade Vietnamese spring rolls here please let me know!

@zhulaoye: I'm not usually into hotpot either, and I also find that "Thai", "Vietnamese" and "Indian" etc. restaurants in Kunming are not up to standard - but the idea that " 'China' cannot make decent food" strikes me as exceedingly weird. However, I don't want to start that one again, as it's been beat to death.
My wife and I tried to eat at some Vietnamese place in a mall up on white dragon road 白龙路。 there is a branch of Kunming Science and Tech Uni there called New City College. Well there is a mall across from it and in that mall a Vietnamese place but it was not serving food both times we went! We have given up on it really. I doubt it will be authentic but it might be 50% at least. But so many of these places stop serving food all afternoon long.
Trick is not to give up, but to go at mealtimes, which are culturally more clearly defined here than in many other places. Try 6-8PM.
