Are the roads ok and is the purported bridge over the Lancang open?

Those are definitely all dirt roads. And there is a bridge if it's in that exact place.

I did this basic route about 10 years ago. Not sure why the bridge wouldn't be open since there's a hydro-dam there. Also, before the bridge over the Lincang, as you cross from Zhenyuan county into Jingdong County you'll be fording a creek. It's not deep, since trucks could drive across, but just so you know if you're planning to cycle/drive.

Sorry, I meant to say: "There is a bridge but don't know if its in that exact place." I don't know because a friend of mine did the route and got terribly lost.

I cycled from Zhenyuan to Zhengtai two years ago. It's all paved road.
From Zhengtai to Dachaoshan, however, I did not do. I asked about that road condition in Zhengtai and I believe they said it was dirt road. Baiyuxiang's right. There's a dam at Dachaoshan, so there should definitely be a bridge.

Yeah, I've been down part way from the west side, so based on your comments and satellite imagery, I'm guessing paved from Dazhao to the river and from Zhenyuan to Zhentai, but not very much so in the middle part. Thanks for the input!
