Has anybody have had good experieces with a local travel agency?
I need to make a group booking for international flights but Int. airlines themselves are not allowed to do so in China.
something not very surprising, but nonetheless annoying. So to avoid my group discount completely vanishing, I am looking for a good agency. One airline mentioned something like HuiKang...something...something, but couldn't find anything online.

At a push we use C Trip to find the names of hotels. Then we call the hotels directly and ask for a discount, the C trip price will give you an anchor price. About 50% of the time we can get cheaper. However the big international chains tend not to give a discount for private bookings.

After you have found the name of the hotel on Ctrip, you will need to go trawling the internet or call directory enquiries to find the phone number (this will be in Chinese). Hotel reception often cannot give a discount, ask to speak to the sales office as this is a multiple booking.

travel agents don't seem to bother too much to get the lowest price.

you can check travelocity.com. If your dates are flexible, plug in different dates to find the lowest fare.

then contact a local travel agency with the flight number.

thats the problem I am facing. i got prices from the airlines but the online agencies don't book groups.

i need a real agency in kunming that i can walk into and inquire stuff.

not sure, but ctrip may have an office in kunming.

So far the wonders of yunna thing so far didn't work out very well for me.

They didn't get my email, although the email address I used is accurate and I didn't receive a failure notice. I called them again today and one of the staff (nice staff, though) somewhat remembered my inquiries when I called last week. I'm giving them credit for that!

But didn't get any feedback calls or whatnot, even though I told them I will send the mail right away.

So, I guess mailing and calling on Friday's is not a good idea.

Dunno, but for me a travel agency that doesn't get, or tracks mail, isn't exactly boosting confidence in their services.

So I am still looking group flight tickets....or travel agencies that don't cash in the group discounts themselves.
Or if you have other ideas how to find out discount rates for group flights, I am happy to hear from you.

@Ifoundthetuna, sorry for the inconvenience caused. As already discussed by phone we've once more been facing internet problems last week and we lost several emails without noticing it. We very much appreciate feedbacks like this so we can follow up the issues accordingly and re-establish our high service level.
