Any restaurants in Kunming that offer alternatives to plain white rice?

Buy your own brown or purple rice and cook it at home. Walmart and C4 have it in bulk or vacuum sealed bags. Use a LOT of water in rice cooker. Get take out from your restaurant. Or better yet cook your own dishes.

OR

Take your own cooked brown rice with you to your restaurant. As a foreigner, they will think you are weird anyways! Maybe take your own cooking oil too?

OR

Only eat at Dai restaurants and order the pineapple rice everytime.
