I wasn't sure whether to put this is Food & Drink or Living in Kunming but ultimately decided that being able to make a turkey sandwich is a comfort well beyond just eating.

Anyway, does anybody know a supermarket or restaurant where I could buy sliced turkey or ham? I live in the Beichen area and have checked Walmart and Metro, but to no avail. I've been to Carrefour in Beijing and they didn't have it there, any different in Kunming?

Since you're in BeiChen - - try Wicker Basket. My wife has got some there before.

Some Italian meats may also be available at The Box restaurant.

Metro sold a sliced packaged "French Ham." Fairly expensive, looked decent, and easily overlooked. Try looking at the meat/cheese section in the rear aisles. Also at Metro is a packaged sliced Gouda from Holland is excellent for sandwiches.

Paul's Shop has some vacuum sealed cuts of pepperoni and packaged salami.

you can get "deli meat" on pretty much any street corner.

I went back to Metro and found they do have expensive sliced ham. I'll check out Wicker Basket later today, thanks for the advice!

Also @Alex, good call on the gouda. That is a solid find.
