Birthing in Kunming?

matty (14 posts) • 0

My wife and I are moving to Km soon, she is due 3 months later, we have not received any positive reports about birthing in Kunming. Are there any good or comfortable hospitals or birth centers? Do they Speak English? Also, we would prefer to birth in Chiang mai but are told that my wife cant fly while very pregnant (the air pressure is dangerous, some flights will refuse her) So, how do foreign women birth in kunming and how do women from KM birth in Thailand?!

Please help!....any opinion is helpful ;)

My husband and I live in KM and had our first baby this past November in Chiang Mai. You can fly on Thai Air to Thailand four weeks before your due date as long as you have a letter from your Dr. stating you and the baby are in good health. I had a letter, but they never asked to look at it. If you stay in KM, Maria Female Hospital or Richland hospital might be okay if there were no complications. Most expat women I know have gone to Thailand to have their babies.

Thanks so much for the response! How much was it to stay in chang mia for a month? How much was the birth? Please leave your email address, my wife would really like to email you!

We'd like to hear from any expat or mixed couples that have experience of pre-natal and birth in both Kunming and Thailand. Would rather not discuss on public forum.

If you have any experience of this could you email greginchina@gmail.com - would be very grateful. Thanks.

Hi, in fact I will face the same problem sooner or later. I've heard there is one hospital called Richland, you could check on this go Kunming website. They are facing and offer the service to expats. And several of my friends had a try there, and the impression is not bad.

You cold also fly to Hongkong, by flight is not far from here.

I'm Jessica -- the author of the above article. I did have my son in Kunming in 2007. There's actually a lot more I wanted to include in the article, but there were space constraints. But if you have any questions you can contact me via this site and I'd be glad to answer!
