The Xuefu Rd climbing gym is "closed for renovation", though it looks pretty well closed to me. Redpoint on East Ring Rd is never open whenever I've gone, which is many, many times. If anyone has any info on indoor climbing/bouldering in Kunming, please share!

Redpoint is open 4pm till 10pm Mon to Thursday and is at 120 TuoDong Lu I think. It's not easy to find though. They have recently moved and the gym is bouldering only.

Any update on climbing gyms? It seems like all the social life except for hanging out in bars is wiped out from Kunming.

I'm going to stay in Kunming for a year, is there anything new about climbing? which gym is closed and which opened? I'm about to arrive on 31 August and I don't know the town, is anybody willing to join me?

There are two gym at the moment, one is on Tuodong Lu, next to the Tuodong stadium - Repoint Gym, the other is further south on Guannan Lu. The gym on Xuefu Lu has closed own.

What kind of size walls are we speaking of here and what kind of prices?
Our local high-school where I'm from had a wall... 10 feet high... *rolls eyes*

Red Point is small, and like ryan74 said, bouldering only. Good for a workout though, they have shoes there you get with the price of admission (30 kuai). Also, you can talk to the local climbers that hang out there and try to go climbing with them. Do you have rope? All I have is shoes and harness but I'm down to go any time, I can show you the outdoor spots.

I'm already in Kunming, I don't know the town very well and I climb only easy routes (3-5, some 6 UIAA) prefering not putting up routes, anyway, if somebody want to join me, send me a message ;)
