There is a fairly big one where I live in Mile, tonight, you need to go to the East Bus Station and get on a bus to Mee Lur. Its about three hours from Kunming though!

Axi Fire Festival is in a small town near Mile - Same time as Chinese New Year (CNY).

chuxiong also has a fire festival. its pretty fun. but have to vook everything way in advance.

I was in Dali for the fire festival - if you like watching little children swinging burning sticks perilously close to your and other little children's faces, its great. Incredible stupidity.

The Axi Fire Festival is NOT the same as Huo Ba Jie - Torch Festival.

The Axi Fire Festival is in Mile, Honge

Huo Ba Jie is a festival for both Yi and Bai people. Biggest one in Chuxiong is in the Yi Ren Gu Zhen. Many places in Dali have the torch Festival.
