After being in Kunming a little while, what neighborhood/area do you think would be fun to rent in?

I am thinking more about interesting, strange, or attractive views or scenery, and not so much about amenities.

Hai Gen Da Ba/bao (sorry about spelling) Guanjing Lu. I think there is at least one apartment for rent at DianChi NanJun (Dianchi South County). You look directly across the water at XiShan.

Guanjing Lu runs along the bund for Dianchi Grass Lake, and ends where the cable car station for Xi Shan begins.

depends on your budget then. i heard there are courtyards renting somewhere near Nan Ping Jie. but not sure about the price yet.

We also looked at a nice house on the mountain to the north of the city. Mostly villas (30k/m rent), and town houses (15K+/m) up there.
This is about 5km past the Garden Expo site.

Some nice local places to dine out, and local farmers at the market. Nearest supermarket is Carrefour on Beijing Lu.

I thought the N/NE part of the city was a bit air polluted because of the incessant construction, heavy trucks, and infinite numbers of automobiles. Not sure about a little further up actually ON the mountain though.

ANYWHERE around the major roads of Green Lake are bad because of the auto and bus pollution in the morning and afternoon rush hours.
