I am looking for bookstores which would have textbooks for learning English.
Gokunming has no listings for any bookstores that I can see.

Any ideas?

Any books in particular you are looking for? I have some textbooks in stock (used - Business English, Functioning in an Intercutural Community, Interchange, etc.) or you can check out virtually any bookstore (Xinhua on Dong Feng Xi Lu or Nanping Jie or Mandarin Bookstore on Wen Hua Xiang) for textbooks for English language learning for Chinese learners.

The one on RenMin Lu, almost opposite Carrefour has a good selection.

Still unable to find a bookstore with a decent EFL section.

The bigger Xinhua I went to had some Cambridge books-but very limited selection. Also their IELTS books are decent. Almost all other English books use translation and feature lots of Chinese characters.

Check out the 3rd and 4th floor of the Baihui Shangchang (forget the name of the bookstore, above the cell-phone market), at the corner of Kunshilu and Dongfenglu. They carry a fair amount of college level English textbooks.

I've also had success finding textbooks on the top floor of the bookstore outside the main gate of Shida, on 121 St. (Coming out of the main gate of Shida (YNNU) turn right and walk about 50 yards towards Jianshelu and the entrance will be on your right)

Just FYI, in my searching for college texts I was informed that Xinhua doesn't even carry these, they only have up to the high-school levels.

I vote for Tsinghua Bookstore just outside of Yunnan Shifan Daxue. Also I've ordered books on dangdang.com and amazon.cn without any problems.
