We are new in town and a good city map with piyin would sure be useful. Anybody know where to get one, so far the tourist maps we've found are not very good.
Thanks.

I think I've seen some English language maps at Salvador's in the display case by the door. Don't expect them too be entirely up to date, though. They're smashing stuff and building new roads on a seemingly daily basis.
1. Xinhua book stores (biggest chain of bookstores currently going out of biz or relocating in KM).
2. outside yunda along wenlin jie (aka "salvadores street") there's an english language bookstore.
3. buy an iphone - the gmaps are bilingual (if your phone is english-based)...but the gps/internet map thing sucks your battery dry in a big hurry).
just to avoid any confusion, Salvador's and Mandarin Books (the English language bookstore mentioned) are on Wenhua Xiang, not Wenlin Jie. time to buy a map perhaps?
google maps are generally useful for the streets, but some annotation is wrong or out of date. no need for the iPhone, any smartphone will do - and GRPS comes as standard on many cell phone plans.
