anyone notice that the city appears to be shrouded in smoke? anyone know what's going on?

in the east that is.

there's a forest fire in the northwest of the city, on the same hill as Bamboo Temple (qiongzhu si). the wind's blowing pretty strongly from the west, and the fire looked well out of control when i passed by earlier (through a eucalyptus-smelling cloud of smoke). there was a *lot* of police, army and fire service there, and the road was closed at both ends to laobaixing traffic. i have to say it looked as they were doing everything they could to get on top of the situation.
