The Nordica english corner is alive and well. Mondays 8:30pm, though they say 8pm start. But they charge 5rmb now to sit, but you get a cup of hot water (free refills).
English corner, that's a middle school thing.
@smiletone
Odd comment? English corners take place in schools at all levels including Universities, Colleges and general public areas.
search toastmaster in kunming, held on 15floor of yigaoshuma building on beijing road every thursday night at7:30 . you will like it.
There is no sign of the Green Lake english corner. Hardly surprising given the racket the workmen were making jackhammering up the footpath in front of the Green Lake Hotel (no eye or ear protection).
I went for a walk in both directions around the Lake just in case but nothing to see but 2 metre high fencing.
@atomic
A shame, but it avoids a wasted journey. Many thanks.
Just to make things clear, Toastmasters is NOT an English corner!
@ AlPage 48: "Toastmasters is NOT an English corner!" What is it then?
Texas Boy. I suggest you read their website to find out.

Note that most of the Toastmasters meetings are in the USA and Canada where they already speak English.
