I am just wondering if people have any information regarding shipping rates to foreign countries.
I would like to send a package by slow boat (of fairly heavy materials) overseas, and am wondering which method is best to do so.
Does the international post office have flat rate shipping for a single size box, or do they charge by the kilogram? If so, does anyone know what sort of prices should be expected?
Thanks
You can go to the international post office on Beijing Lu, i think it's number 23. I have been there myself and been charged by the KG.
For a single KG to the UK, it costed me about 200rmb registered air mail, but the price drops by quite abit when you are sending bulk weight.
I was quoted about 2000rmb for 25kg by an air service, and there was another method which was by sea i think, i cannot remember the name of the service but i was quoted around 1300rmb for 25kg.
You can phone them actually for a quote, they have English staff in, but mainly on Thursdays 08713184132. This was back in July 2009 but i don't know if anything has changed since then.
You can also try www.sendfromchina.com however they are located in shenzhen, so you must register, send your goods off to then, and they then ship it to your destination.
thanks very much for your help.
I called the international post office, and they gave me a quote for shipping via surface mail, which is the slowest method, and probably goes by freight ship. Since I am shipping to the U.S.A., unfortunately the quotes for the U.K. do not help a lot, but your information was very helpful Kal.
For those interested, there are 3 types of shipping service. There is air, express, and surface mail. The prices are roughly 70 quai apart for the 1st kilogram of each type, and then separated by another 20 for each kilogram after 1.
So in conclusion
surface: 1st: 83.5, additional 20 kuai each
express: 1st: approx 140-150 kuai, additional ??? 30-40
air: 1st: approx 200 quai, additional ??? 40-60
unfortunately I was not fully aware of the rates for other types besides surface mail.
hope this helps people.
They told me the maximum they would send per box is 30 kilograms, and had a specific box they sold me for 14.5 quai which was their so called "largest" size. It is 44.5x35x35cm. Hope this helps. If you have a question about your country, they have a specific, itemized list with prices for different shipping services. One can call them and ask.
In reference to Australian shipping.
Just sent 9.5 kg via SAL for 597 kuai in a 530 x 290 x 370mm box.
You can try www.chinadivision.com . They located in shenzhen, so you have to register, send your goods off to then, and they then ship it to your destination with a cheap price.
Why does a first time user revive a six year old thread?
Sounds like SPAM to me!
There are companies right here in Kunming that can handle this WITHOUT the need to send items to Shenzhen.
I would like to ship my new year hangover to any country or person willing to accept. All reasonable rates accepted. Urgent.
To be fair to the lad. I've asked a few delivery companies about sending things abroad, registered post, and they have all told me that kind of thing goes through Shenzhen.
Last time I had to send it to Shenzhen it was re packed and send abroad. It was a bit of a nightmare.
You can ship via DHL right from Kunming. They may take it to Shenzhen or Guangzhou as part of their routing but once it leaves Kunming it doesn't matter.
Yes, you can use DHL, but it's a small fortune.
