Hello,
I am planning to buy a phone soon. If I get a phone that connects to WCDMA 3G network(the 3G standard used throughout the world), could I use it to connect to the 3G network in China (TD-SCDMA).
Sounds like an obvious issue, it should not work, but I heard some people say their European phones connect to 3G in China. Any idea?

Basically TD-SCDMA is a totally different technology. Your phone will not be able to use 3G on China Mobile. It will, however, be able to connect to their EDGE network.
The only company using WCDMA is China Unicom.
