China Daily states that after the first year, $1.4 billion of freight moved between the 2 cities.. Through what used to be a wall of mountains, the 1050 km trip is made in 10 hours..

This railroad is probably more usefull then the one for sightseeing in Lijang ;-)

And looking forward to the time when passinger trains will go to Vientiane as well. Much more interesting then touring "The Big Shopping Centre In the North" (=Lijiang).
