@cloudtrapezer I think you got this wrong: “But under capitalism, the product of workers' labour, whether physical or intellectual - news articles, lesson plans etc. belongs to the employer… .” If this is explicit in an employment contract,
you are correct. However, absent an explicit contract stipulation, development of intellectual property and its subsequent ownership, often becomes a matter of litigation at least “under capitalism.”
Socialists, and Communists, generally oppose any form of private property rights, including intellectual property, which nicely eliminates the existence of Intellectual Property (IP).
As for publishing your IP, it is often the case that you are required to relinquish you IP rights in order to be published. This is not universal and depends on the publisher’s policy. I developed a new approach to determining and calculating break even for complex businesses, was published but retained the copyright. Subsequently, I agreed to allow use of my method in an accounting textbook as long as I was given attribution.
About 40 years ago I came up with the idea of building a numeric key pad into computer keyboards. Being an accountant, and the Corporate Controller, I insisted the number key be arranged like an accountants 10 key adding machine instead of like a telephone keypad. It cost more to do it that way as the keypads had to be redesigned to fit into keyboards but you, and the whole world use it.
“Copyright was invented by and for early capitalism, and its importance to that system has grown ever since. To oppose copyright is to oppose capitalism. Thus, Marxism is a natural starting point when challenging copyright.”

Replying to the question from yesterday.
I can sort of understand ppl from UK, choosing China as a more liveable option, even the grim dystopian realities included. Even I can understand u guys taking side of the modern freak left, as the english society doesnt leave much option.
But thats a part of a personal reality, not everyone is one foot stuck in that rude, corporate controlled, thought controlled, class oriented miserable modern hellhole called england - from which even comedian John Cleese is taking a hike.
Oh, I enjoy every day of life in the Mediterranean. And its a true blessing not to be english - or under a nearly total control - where u cant even trust a bowl of noodles.
Just look at cooking shows on any global TV channel, meant to be in good spirit and laughter, while in the UK, on the other hand, its concept is called "the F word", where Ramsay tells all miserable employees to go and f themselves. Most popular show. Only UK could have come up with that.
You have my sympathies, being where u are and where u come from. Someone despising patriotism as u do, we probably can agree on this one. Only a man from UK must be able to see Guardians self hating men as a blessing, and if I was from there, I sure wish theres no borders either. How about u Daisy, do u agree on this too?
Peter, I have to admit that I'm intrigued by your continued compulsion to participate in these forums from your Aegean paradise. As you float from veranda cafe to edgy art gallery, pausing to listen to buskers and chat up Achaean beauties, how do you find the time and inclination to consort with the likes of us? If things are what you claim, surely your rich and satisfying lifestyle would crowd out GoKunming.
Doesn't make sense, unless... maybe that Mediterranean idyll isn't all it's cracked up to be, if it exists at all. Who's to say you're not holed up in a bare room in Minsk? Or maybe still in Kunming, for that matter?
It would be easy to prove me wrong. You could take a photo of a laptop/tablet screen with GoKunming forums pulled up in the browser (preferably showing your logged-in user name next to the post entry field, to prevent fiverr shenanigans), against an identifiably Greek backdrop with a physical copy of today's Ta Nea in the frame. And then post it to imgur. Five minutes should suffice, far less time than you have spent imparting your wisdom to us.
Actually, Minsk is well worth a visit

You got it right, but greek women are damn great, they chat up guys, you dont need to chat them up. And u forgot to mention the great food (which one can trust btw).
@Peter99: women in Kunming chat you up as well and after a couple of weeks you know how to avoid getting food that gives you a Beijing Belly. Greece does have beautiful nature, but the place gets boring easily.
@Cloud: perhaps it would help to provide content interactively online? Much harder to copy, much easier to control access. Do schools allow that in China or is it still all pen and paper?
.
Since P99 is wearing an Infowars T-shirt it is probably the ladies of Golden Dawn who tried to chat him up.
