GoKunming feedback...

@cloudtrapezer: The second paragraph of my post (and the link, if you use Google Chrome) provide what I believe is at least a partial solution to the problem that you and alienew raised.

You're welcome.

Most forums seem to allow attaching photos to posts. ... although trolls might abuse that and it might require more moderating...

Yes, photos would be interesting, especially as so many GoKunmingers travel. It would be nice to have more insight into the lesser known corners of Yunnan. It could also increase traffic.
Now GoKunming has new management, it would be a good time to consider upgrading the software.

Posting photos on forums - unnecessary and, I think, a bad idea, given all the moderating it would require, plus all the confusion that comes with the idea that photos represent the truth, don't lie, arguments over what they 'mean', etc. And I don't need to know what you look like to understand what you say.
Way too many photos in the world anyway these days.

Also I agree with Alien about the photos. Unnecessary and likely to create a lot of problems.

I am a moderator on another Website. The photos don't cause many problems there, other than people having problems uploading them. It is some of the text content that causes 99% of the problems.

tiger, what kind of problems? Similar to gokunming forums? But what's the goal, or purpose, of the other website? Especially in its contributors' eyes?

People will write text then photograph it and post the photograph. Already happens a lot on Wechat etc.

Adding photos to the gokm forums would require the admins to increase their online or cloud storage requirements - which comes with increased recurring payments.

As gokm blogs don't have popup advertisements (thank you again for NOT doing that) - they're not really revenue generators - but appear more as a courtesy to retain or sustain subscriber and visitor community numbers which translate somewhat directly to advertising fees and rates. Adding photo links also requires censorship (this is China - no porn, gambling or other socially unacceptable things) and enhanced support - more recurring costs.

Also - gokm seems to generally dislike referral links to other sites - which would obviously then be abused by spammers.
