Interestingly, in considering what people seem to want to talk about rather than what they say they want to talk about, Musashi's last 2 topics have drawn more comments than any others introduced in the last week or so, despite the fact that his topics
both could be, and were, dealt with adequately in just a few posts, thanks to the fact that both he and the posters have
cooperated in going way off the topics proposed. As my post here has.
This is not untypical of active gokunming posters.

Gokunming came on here to ask our opinions on a moderation idea. The rest of this thread is in response to that.
As for the notion that thread locking and bans don't work. I am a moderator on a forum, and believe me, they do.
New threads can be started, and locked. It is a nuisance but people get bored after being banned for trolling a couple of times. Most people want to be on a forum and do return, and really that is ok if they can behave within the forum rules. What they have lost is any legacy kudos from a previous alias. Even if they have a similar ID, people know that they have been banned.

It might be better to split this topic and give the new discussion an appropriate title. Otherwise a troll will get the glory for starting six pages.
How about this? We'll begin a new thread where people can openly express their opinions about what they think GK is doing and how they think it could change. I'll lock this forum now and respond as best I can to the new questions or critiques in the other forum. Done? Done.
